Turning Genes On And Off Through Epigenetics

Can we actually be in control of turning genes on and off?

Yes, we can. Let’s talk about how we are able to do this. It has to do with the science of Epigenetics and it’s really quite amazing. Turning genes on and off can be influenced by several factors including nutrition. Nutrition is a very important component of our lifestyle program that you are able to take home with you after leaving our healing center.

Genetics are the blueprint of the entire body. Each individual cell differentiates itself during the embryonic transformation where it determines whether it becomes a liver cell, a brain cell, a skin cell, etc. Once it differentiates, that’s all it will do from that point forward for it’s life span.

What a cell does or what it expresses genetically is based on the environment it is in. If we take a stem cell and put it in a heart, it’s going to become a heart. If we put a stem cell in a liver or a brain, that is it will become exactly that, a liver or a brain.

What is determining what the stem cell becomes? Is it the nucleus or DNA? It’s actually neither. The nucleus is the library of potential responses. What actually determines what a cell does is its environment or it’s epigenetics. Epigenetics means the layer above our genes, “epi” meaning above.

The way that we get information is through our senses and senses are appendages of the skin. The interpretation of our environment and our ability to interact with it is determined by our senses.

Turning Genes On and Off Can Be Influenced Through Nutrition

Our skin is interpreting the environment. It’s interpreting electromagnetic frequencies, sound frequencies, etc. The cell has over one hundred thousand receptors. The cell can only bring in information for which it has a receptor for specifically.

For example, if there are no estrogen receptors then it doesn’t matter how much estrogen is in the environment, it can’t respond to it and it can’t produce what is necessary. The end result is the estrogen becomes irrelevant. It is those receptors present that will determine what the cells are going to do.

It normal physiology we have what’s called upregulation and downregulation. In simple terms this means the cells respond to the environment it is in either by upregulating or downregulating a particular process. It does this by turning genes on and off, expressing and unexpressing genes.

If there is too much glucose, as an example, because you are eating too many glucose producing foods, then it signals the nucleus to stop making so many insulin receptors and the cell becomes insulin resistant.

This is actually really good news because what it means is whatever condition you are in now in terms of your health can be changed through living within the laws of nature. This is what we teach people who come to visit us at our healing center.
