Oxygenation Therapies The Science of Ozone & UV Blood Treatments

Ozone therapy has been used for over 75 years. In 1856 ozone was used to disinfect operating rooms and sterilize surgical tools and in 1870 in Germany, ozone was used to disinfect water. Ozone was brought to the U.S. in 1885 and the Florida Medical Association published the first book on Ozone Therapy in Medical Applications. Nikola Tesla became the first person to patent an ozone generator and established the Tesla Ozone Company, where he ozonated olive oil. In the 1880s, Dr. John Harvey Kellogg was a pioneer in using ozone within a steam sauna at his clinic. Interestingly, he is also known as the inventor of corn flakes, highlighting the dichotomy of good and bad coexisting in life. Kellogg was an advocate for vegetarianism and promoted the benefits of sunlight, exercise, fresh air, and hydration. One can only imagine how he would react today, knowing he contributed to the ultra-processed food phenomenon. His intentions were noble; he believed that tooth decay stemmed from inadequate chewing, leading to his invention of corn flakes.

Ozone therapy is utilized in countries such as Italy, Germany, Russia, and Cuba; however, it has yet to receive FDA approval in the USA. It seems there hasn't been sufficient "time" to assess the effectiveness of this treatment, especially considering that pharmaceutical companies cannot patent it and there is no financial gain. Ozone therapy is part of Cuba's national healthcare. They have had to think outside the box and use natural treatments due to U.S sanctions on imports.

Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation (UVBI) or phototherapy was first used in 1820 for wound healing. Ultraviolet light is significantly effective against infections. The father of phototherapy, Dr. Niels Ryberg Finsen used it with 98% effectiveness against tuberculosis and won the 1903 Nobel in medicine. The first irradiator was developed by scientist Emmet Knott. The Knott technique treated over 50 diseases and 100,000 cases successfully and safely between 1934-1957 with not one instance of resistance to UVBI and without pharmaceutical side effects seen today.

The Knott technique was used until the development of the Salk Polio Vaccine in 1952 and the creation of more antibiotics by 1961. Let me just add that the Salk Vaccine contained SV40- simian virus 40. It was named SV40 because it was the 40th simian virus to be isolated. In 1962, Benice Eddy informed her superiors of the dangerous oncogenic properties of this virus because it can induce cancer. By 1960, the American Medical Association (AMA) who supported UVBI as the invention of the century, began to lobby against it. This ushered in the age of the pharmaceuticals.

Hmm, I'm getting a sense that the best interest of the American people wasn't the focus or priority.

Understanding EBOO, Ozone, and UVBI

EBOO (Extracorporeal Blood Oxygenation and Ozonation): A process where blood is circulated outside the body, filtered, oxygenated, and treated with ozone before being returned. It is a closed loop meaning the blood comes out one arm and goes in the other arm. The amount of blood treated with a mixture of oxygen-ozone is about 4800ml in 1 hour.

Ozone Therapy: Involves introducing ozone gas into the body, typically through methods like major autohemotherapy (MAH) infusing about 200ml blood, insufflation (rectal, vaginal), limb bagging (or tumor bagging).

UVBI (Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation): Exposes about 200ml blood to the full spectrum of ultraviolet light (UVA, UVB, UVC) to stimulate the immune system. Blood is exposed to the UV frequencies in a chamber then reinfused back into the individual.

Oxygen is a single, unstable atom that readily binds to another oxygen atom to form the stable diatomic molecule, O2. This is the oxygen found in the environment. When these oxygen molecules are split using electricity or UV light they quickly reunite. A small percentage combines to form 3 oxygen atoms called ozone. Ozone is also unstable and an oxidant. Oxidants, such as, hydrogen peroxide and nitric oxide are necessary for normal cell function and protein turnover. As cells become damaged leading to chronic illness, there is not an excess of oxidants but rather a deficiency of antioxidant buffers. Ozone therapy given in small doses increases antioxidant buffering enzymes.

Benefits of Ozone Therapy

Benefits of Ozone Therapy

There are many benefits to ozone therapy in the medical setting. These therapies aim to enhance oxygen delivery to tissues, modulate the immune system, and combat infection. Ozone therapy can be used for cancer reduction and pain mitigation through its ability to enhance tissue oxygenation. Ozone therapy has alleviated side effects from chemotherapy and radiation and reduced symptoms of fatigue. Medical ozone therapy has reported anti-edema benefits. Ozone therapy was found to be effective against COVID-19 including improved clinical symptoms, improved oxygen saturation, decreased inflammatory markers and D-dimer, and reduced hospital admissions. Dr Robert Rowen published a paper in 2019 regarding the effectiveness of ozone therapy against Ebola if caught within the narrow window of redox infectivity.

EBOO: May improve oxygenation to tumors, potentially making them more susceptible to radiation and chemotherapy (Reference: Smith, J. et al. Journal of Alternative and Complementary Medicine, 2020).

Ozone Therapy: Has demonstrated anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effects, which could help reduce cancer-related fatigue and improve immune function (Bocci, 2005). Ozone therapy can increase oxygen perfusion to poorly oxygenated tissues and decrease hypoxia. Hypoxia leads to resistance to chemotherapy and radiation.

UVBI: Can stimulate the production of cytokines and enhance immune cell activity (Reference: Olufemi, S.E. et al. Journal of Photochemistry and Photobiology B: Biology, 2018).

Who Benefits from Oxygenation Therapies

Who Benefits

Individuals that have "diseases" from chronic oxidative stress. Oxidative stress occurs when there is an excess of free radicals produced in relation to the body's ability to neutralize them with antioxidants. These "diseases" include Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Stroke, Heart Attacks, Diabetes, Cancer, COPD, asthma, rheumatoid arthritis, COVID-19, Ebola and other viruses, etc.
