The Coronavirus (COVID-19) has the world in a panic and is forcing all of us to rethink our approach.
We have known for decades the value of Vitamin C, especially when delivered intravenously in high doses. Vitamin C is not only essential in the treatment of cancer, it is a very powerful treatment for viruses when used in the proper dosage and frequency. China has discovered this possibility and is doing a clinical trial using Vitamin C for the Coronavirus. The dosage and delivery is lower than what we would use, so hopefully this will not undermine their success with using Vitamin C for this new virus. We are excited to see that China has chosen to investigate Intravenous Vitamin C as a natural alternative to helping people heal from the Coronavirus. Major Autohemotherapy (Ozone therapy) would be another effective option to consider. Both of these therapies have a long history of successful use with viruses.
All the push from conventional medicine is for the latest and greatest vaccine, yet a tried and true ‘alternative’ medical treatment, intravenous (IV) vitamin C, is already available and has hit the ground running. The wide-spread benefits of IV vitamin C is well known and well published. A head stuck in the proverbial scientific sand is the only way to explain away a lack of awareness on the uses of IV vitamin C. Beyond all the wonderful benefits of IV vitamin C against cancer, that we employ at An Oasis of Healing and that I have previously highlighted in a blog series on the topic, IV vitamin C has also been shown to be an effective anti-bacterial and anti-viral treatment. Current published evidence supports its use in a wide variety of infections, including sepsis, and even the NIH is getting on board by currently looking at the use of high-dose IV vitamin C in the treatment of sepsis in The Vitamin C, Thiamine and Steroids in Sepsis (VICTAS) protocol study. By most optimistic projections, a vaccine, with unknown effectiveness, is estimated to be many months out with the likely resolution of the current coronavirus scare resolved long before the vaccine even hits the market. And that doesn’t even include long-term studies on the safety of the yet to be created and named vaccine. It is amazing how many time tested, natural therapies don’t require the many months of creation, manufacture, and regulation required by the conventional therapy, yet they are always set and ready to go.
So why wait? That is exactly the question that the doctors at the Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University are asking. The Zhongnan Hospital is at the very epicenter of the Coronavirus outbreak in China. ZhiYong Peng and the Zhongnan hospital have launched a study, Vitamin C infusion for the Treatment of Severe 2019-nCoV Infected Pneumonia, to evaluate the use of IV vitamin C in the treatment of Coronavirus induced pneumonia. IV vitamin C is available, effective, and safe now for the treatment of cancer and for its anti-viral effects. The known anti-viral therapies of IV vitamin C go back to the beginning of the last century (1930s to be more precise). But, there is the ‘alternative’ label to deal with.
What is alternative about natural treatments that are effective and safe, other than the use of a word ‘alternative’ which is intended to marginalize these effective, natural therapies. Remember, by historical standards, the current conventional, allopathic approach to medicine actually is the ‘alternative’. How about we quite labeling therapies, open our minds to new ideas and treatments, and start using the most effective and safest therapies for patients `now? One day, IV vitamin C may even be considered a conventional therapy. But, then we are back to labels again.
