Maggie Gama, MD, FAAAM
IFM Certified, Metabolic & Nutritional Medicine
Prior to medical school, Dr. Gama was a nurse for over a decade. Her compassionate spirit, desire to help people live their best and her love of the sciences compelled her to return to medical school and become a medical doctor.
Dr. Gama received her medical degree in 2000 from the University of Arizona in Tucson. Her post-graduate training includes internal medicine, a residency in Pathology which includes training in both surgical and clinical pathology, and two fellowships, Surgical Pathology and Hematopathology. Her background in pathology as well as her clinical skills provide a unique perspective for working with the disease process and in particular cancer.
Additionally, Dr. Gama is one of a few doctors Board Certified in Functional Medicine, an emerging growing field which is guided by the perspective that “you” are a unique individual with your own personal history, medical, emotional, life events, etc., which is taken into account throughout the healing process.
A personal quest for her own healing and that of a close family member lead her to focus on natural healing and finding the real “root cause of disease”.
Prior to joining the Oasis Team, Dr. Gama worked in San Diego as a surgical pathologist and hemotopathologist and was the Director of Services for almost a decade. Dr. Gamas is also certified in IPTLD through the International Organization of Integrative Cancer Physicians.
Dr. Gama upholds Dr. Lodi’s intention regarding the foundation of the program at An Oasis of Healing in that she relies upon restoring the immune system and organ function through proper detoxification and nutrition while utilizing a scientifically based integrative approach to targeting cancer at the same time minimizing harm to the patient.
When you meet Dr. Gama you will sense her genuine compassion and desire to help you regain hope and find the answers to put you back on the road to regain your health and live your best life!
